Tests have proven that conventional storm windows have tremendous air leaks. The worst leaks are caused by air entering at the bottom corner of the upper sash and funneling in along both sides of the frame. With traditional storm windows, even the slightest wind pressure pushes the sash away from the weatherstrip, allowing even more air infiltration. The SNOWBIRD’s WEATHERTRAPP^® system eliminates this problem. The WEATHERTRAPP^® system encloses the upper sash in a weatherstripped “pocket” within the frame of the storm window. This creates a non-interrupted weatherstripped plane between the two sashes that significantly reduces air infiltration and is more effective than conventional storm windows.
